These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Runyard application for macOS ("the App") developed by Bonevil ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Runyard, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Description of the App
Runyard is a macOS menu bar application that manages local development tool processes. It reads a configuration file, starts and stops processes, monitors service health via HTTP polling, and provides a menu bar interface for control. Runyard operates entirely on your local machine.
License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Runyard on Apple devices that you own or control.
Distribution and Updates
Runyard is distributed directly by Bonevil (signed and notarized for macOS) and updates itself through the Sparkle framework. The update feed is hosted at https://bonevil-ca.github.io/runyard-releases/appcast.xml and is cryptographically signed. You can review or disable automatic update checks in Settings.
Purchases and Tips
Runyard may offer optional paid features (an "Unlimited Tools" license) and voluntary tips ("Tip Jar"). Purchases and tips are processed by Dodo Payments, an independent merchant of record, not by Bonevil and not through the Apple App Store. Your purchase is a contract between you and Dodo Payments for the payment, and between you and Bonevil for the license to use Runyard.
- License model. A paid license activates Unlimited Tools on one Mac at a time. To move your license to another Mac, use Deactivate this Mac in Settings → Purchases on the Mac you are leaving, then activate the same license key on the new one. If you no longer have access to the previous Mac, you can deactivate it remotely from the Dodo Payments customer portal by signing in with the email used at purchase.
- Tips. Tips are voluntary contributions to support development. They do not unlock features and create no obligation on our part.
- Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Dodo Payments through its customer portal. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act or other applicable consumer-protection legislation.
- Changes. We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove paid features over time. Material changes to features that you have already paid for will not retroactively remove access for the term you paid for.
Analytics
By using Runyard, you acknowledge that the App collects anonymous usage analytics as described in the Privacy Policy. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out of analytics at any time in Settings → About.
User Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- The configuration files you create and the processes you choose to manage through Runyard.
- Ensuring that the services and processes you run through Runyard comply with applicable laws and any relevant license agreements.
- Maintaining the security of your local environment.
Runyard is a tool that executes actions on your behalf based on your configuration. We are not responsible for the behavior, output, or consequences of the processes you manage through the App.
Intellectual Property
Runyard, including its code, design, name, and logo, is the intellectual property of Bonevil. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use our trademarks, branding, or other intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the App as intended.
Open-Source Components
Runyard includes the following open-source software:
- Sparkle (sparkle-project.org), MIT License, used for in-app updates.
- TelemetryDeck SwiftSDK, MIT License, used for anonymous analytics.
Full license texts are available in the linked repositories.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Runyard is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will meet your specific requirements.
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
- Any defects in the App will be corrected.
- The processes managed through Runyard will behave as expected.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits any warranty or other right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including Quebec's Consumer Protection Act.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from processes started, stopped, or managed by Runyard, regardless of the cause of action or the theory of liability.
In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid for the App or its paid features in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may terminate your license to use Runyard if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease using the App and delete all copies.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in the judicial district of Quebec City, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring or defend an action in the district where you reside.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Runyard after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
